How to create packaging that would speak for the products, allow closer inspection of the product and ensure that it reflected Speedo's reputation for advanced equipment? We considered approaches that explored plastics as well as greener card based options. The range of products was repackaged in a way to avoid the use of non recyclable plastics, a more prominent feature of the brand now.

The cap packaging design used a new design approach, a new unique roll mechanism that allowed consumers to take out the product and try it before returning it to the shelf in pristine condition. The design was eligible for a new patent. The new goggle box solved a variety of existing problems: lasting the life of the goggle, the box would drain efficiently after swimming.

A new graphic look and feel was developed and extended across the full range of packaged products. Many green design solutions were rejected due to the requirement to see the goggle on shelf. Some of the thinking in this area has since been applied to the existing range of designs for subsequent new ranges of packaging.
